All sorts of snacks, drinks and other items are welcome, or you may pitch in a bit of cash if desired to help out.  We usually play for a good 3 hours plus socializing.  If you come, plan on staying for a good 3-4 hours at least, but its a blast.  Also, I hope to have my shelves built in my living room so we can play movies, Wii games and other games if you are interested.

See you all there!

29 Jan 2008

Per an email I sent out this last Sunday, Game Night has moved to Murray, Utah.  Its possible there might be an occasional Game Night down in Utah County here and there, and we’ll try to announce them on this list as well.

Here’s the content of the email from Sunday for those who might possibly be following this blog:

All sorts of snacks, drinks and other items are welcome, or you may pitch in a bit of cash if desired to help out.  We usually play for a good 3 hours plus socializing.  If you come, plan on staying for a good 3-4 hours at least, but its a blast.  Also, I hope to have my shelves built in my living room so we can play movies, Wii games and other games if you are interested.

Also, I’ll be updating the announcement list to accommodate the new location and schedule which will be when I am in Utah.  Should be at least 1-2+ wks per month.

So as you can see, the game nights will be better scheduled from now on.  Here’s the schedule for upcoming Game Night’s in Murray for Febrary and March:

  • Feb 26 - 7pm

Special Game Night - Tuesday, July 3, 2007

01 Jul 2007

We’re holding a special extended Game Night this coming Tuesday.  9pm is the normal start time, but we’re gonna stay late, 3am.

The idea is that since the next day is Independence Day, we’ll get an opportunity to play some of those games we usually don’t have time to play.  So come and join us this Tuesday, it’ll be a blast.

We’ll be getting wings from the Rocky Mountain Wing Shack.  If you’ve never heard of them, they’ve got a location in American Fork, and they have several different types of wings to choose.

See you Tuesday.

Cheers,

Clint

New Locations

04 Apr 2007

Hi all,

As promised, its official, GameNights in Utah County are moving.

Starting next week - April 10, 2007 - There will be a Video GameNight held in Springville. There will no longer be a Board GameNight in Springville. The Video GameNight will be held by Josh Gibbons at his home starting at 9pm and going to about midnight.

As of May 1, 2007, the Board GameNight will be held in Orem. This new location is still where Chris and Clint live, a change of venue. The frequency has changed as well, Board GameNight will be held every other Tuesday, from 9 to about midnight.

Information about both the Video and Board GameNights can be found on the When and Where page. Please feel free to come to either GameNight as there will be much fanfare for the next few weeks/months and we expect many new faces to join as well. See you all there.

Cheers,

Herlo

For those of you who would like to join us to play games, some good news. A new location is being set up and we should be able to announce the venue very soon.

Salt Lake County Game Nights Postponed

16 Mar 2007

For now, the Salt Lake County Game Night scheduled to start in May will be postponed indefinitely.

Due to unforseen circumstances regarding the location in Murray, things will end up staying in Utah County for the next few months.  I hope to have resolved all of the issues and start Game Night in Salt Lake County by September 2007.

Cheers,

Clint

Acquire

14 Feb 2007

This week was a good game of Acquire, a business investing and merger game. It’s quite a fun game and it has been quite a while since I’ve seen this game. We had some newcomers, and several people played X-Box 360 as well. It was an excellent evening, 9 in all attended.

In addition, I recently received my TViX media player. It is a very neat tool, and it was fun to show it off and all of the neat features it currently has available.

Good night,

Clint

No Thanks, Guitar Hero II and Bang! with Dodge City

17 Jan 2007

Last night was a variety night. We had 8 people show up and it proved to be fun because we had several games from which to choose.

One game I liked in particular as No Thanks, essentially a card game of skill and chance. It consists of a deck of cards numbered from 1-35, and each player (up to 5) get 11 red chips. The idea of the game is to get the lowest points by taking the least amount of cards, and having as many chips as possible to reduce your score. Once all of the cards are dealt out, you add up your card points, then subtract the red chips.

Game play works by deciding whether you want a card or not. If you don’t want the card, you put a chip on it, if you do, you collect the chips and put the card in your stack. One cool twists in the game make it easy to reduce your score by simply collecting cards in sequence, which only the lowest value counts against you. This is a fun, social game!

Another fun game, is Bang!, with the Dodge City expansion. This is the one game we played last night that allows 8 players, though we only had 6 play, while a couple others played Guitar Hero II. Bang! has some fun elements in that you are a specific type of character and based upon whether you are a bad guy or a good guy, you get to try to kill the opposing players. But watch out, don’t kill your partners, or you might lose the game.

Guitar Hero II was brought over a few weeks ago by our GameNight friend, Josh Gibbons. It’s his game on the PlayStation 2, a very fun and addicting game. Everybody sees this game and says “oh, that looks lame”, or “oh, it’s gotta be easy”, then they play it, realize what a challenge it is to play, and are addicted. We regularly lose 2-4 people every night to Guitar Hero II.

See you next week,

Cheers,

Herlo
